This site was started in late 2008 as a place to blog about my experiences in BDSM. Over three years later I’m still doing all the same things, and now come from a point of experience versus one of being new to the scene.
I decided to re-open this blog as kink is something I spend a lot of my time on, and perhaps every once in awhile I might have something useful to say.
This is not a “sex blog”. I’m not out to write erotica, or post porn. That’s not what this is to me, it is a way for me to share myself with those I care about.
I also write about this stuff to show that life can be healthy, mature and productive while living in a way that strays from the norm. Articles vary from self-directed insights, photography, and topic related articles which I hope others find educational.
Syrinx in Mythology
The name of the site “She is Reeds” pays homage to the Syrinx archetype. Syrinx in Greek mythology was considered to be the most beautiful nymph, and a follower of Artemis. She participated in the chase. Her sheer beauty captivated the God Pan and he began to pursue her. She did not want his affections and one day he chased her down to the water’s edge, with no where to go she cried out to her friends, the water nymphs, for help and they turned her into reeds. Pan knelt beside them clutching his once was Syrinx, his breath blew across them creating an erie song. He then struck them down and constructed the Pan pipe, it was believed that he played it in memory of her. In fact the pan pipe is also called the Syrinx.
